Heat stamped logoed “Bull’s Eye” Flag Seals are a popular choice for service companies both large and small. Your company name and/or logo prominately displayed on the flag of the seal allows you to identify your service work and is proof that you have performed the work according to the NFPA Standard for Portable Fire Extinguisher (page 10-12; paragraph 4-4.2.1). If a competitor “steals” a customer from you and your logoed seal is still attached to the unit it is evidence that they did not perform the work and will assist you in reestablishing the account.
Turn cost into profit
The majority of service companies charge for the seal they use, as they would for any other replacement part. Service companies should take advantage of every opportunity to legitimately build the profit from the work they perform. Fire extinguisher service companies should take a lesson from other service related companies and charge for every part they use. Usually 25 to 50 cents is charged to furnish and install a fire extinguisher seal, this charge easily covers the cost of the seal and can help defray other expenses and actually increase profit.
Familiar products and new products
Fire Specialties Co. also distributes Shearable Nylon Pull Pins as well as three sizes of “Dri-Flo” Filling Funnels. The Pull Pins are made of a durable nylon material that easily shears with firm hand pressure in the event that the operator panics and forgets to pull the pin. The Funnels have a specially designed duo mesh system that breaks up the material to prevent clogs making filling the extinguisher easier and faster. Both these products are available direct or through your favorite parts house.
Fire Specialties Co. has dated heat stamped seals. Both a one year stamp and two year stamp are available in various color combinations. Consecutively numbered seals are available as a special order directly from the factory. We are currently “testing” an 18 inch Bi-Directional Seal with a special tear away feature that can be used for sprinkler system applications. The Bi-Directional Seal is made of polypropylene with a 48 lb. breaking strength ~ if you are interested in sampling the Bi-Directional seal we will be happy to send you samples. Also coming on the market is a tamper evident sealing tape for use on hose cabinets, first aid kits, alarm systems and many other security applications…samples of this tamper evident tape are available upon request.
